| GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE CITY OF BRASILIA |
Brasilia is a modern city, planned beforehand to be the capital of Brazil, founded in 1961 by President Juscelino Jubstchek. The city was designed by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer, his shining creations are part of the landscape of this monumental city, considered a historic patrimony by UNESCO. You can observe its airplane shape, which is unique in the world, from the air and the way it is organized into strategic sectors by location and service : governmental, commercial, international headquarters, residential, etc. Its surroundings are the satellite cities which were created to give support to the Pilot Project.
Brasilia has a population of more than 2 million inhabitants.
The distance between Brasilia and Sao Paulo is of 1020 Km. by road or one hour and a half by plane. The distance between Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro is approximately the same .
The Meeting will be held at the Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center, located in the south zone of the city. |
| CLIMATE IN BRASILIA |
The climate in Brasilia is almost dry, with an average temperature of 20.5. C (69, F). The best time to visit Brasilia is from April to June where sunny days and cloudless skies are pretty common. During the days of the Conference the average temperature will be around 26° and during the night around 15° C, so it’s recommendable to bring a light coat or sweater. |

Brazilian currency is called Real (R$). It comes in 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 real bills and of 1, 5, 10, 20, 25 and 50 coin cents.
The dollar exchange rate is approximately 2,05 reais per dollar. The American dollar is not a common trade currency so its trade is restricted only in money exchange houses or authorized banks. There are authorized money exchange places in the airports of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Brasilia.
International credit cards such as American Express, Visa and Mastercard are accepted. In case you want to pay with check you should ask so.
Taxes are included in all prices of the products. |

Brasilia is a safe city for its inhabitants and visitors. However, we recommend special care and attention during the night. |

| MEDICAL CARE |
Each delegate is covered by a basic insurance policy for emergencies, supported by a collective contract specially prepared for the event. We require that each delegate submit to ILO Brasilia the following information: Full name, country, passport number, itinerary, in order that the insurance company can emit a card with the corresponding security code of each participant. |
